Candle Making Adventure

Hello!! & Welcome to my blog!!

I've tried this a few times and decided to give it another shot.

Candle making is something new to me. I started last year in search for something to do with my great-grandmother's tea cup collection.

I needed a cool idea for Christmas gifts. Let's face it, we all have enough scarves and ties to last a lifetime! I was in search of something unique and personal.

I burn a lot of candles. Having a child with severe pulmonary issues made me obsessed with reducing ALL chemicals in the house (I wrote an entire blog on this years ago). I learned to read the ingredients of EVERYTHING in my house. The results were frightening!
Candle ingredients were hard to find but I began to notice the effects of burning different candles. I challenge all candle makers to list ingredients. Most of them do NOT list ingredients. Some of the stuff I found was scary! I knew I could do better. And I wasn't about to give up candles.

Long story short :: I came up with my own, organic recipe for healthier candles. My candles are made with simple ingredients, soy wax and essential oils. Voila. That's all you need! I do go the extra mile and buy organic. I feel that it's worth it. They burn beautifully and smell delightful. (I also make non-scented candles.)

I fell in love with this candle making business! What satisfaction. What fun. And what gems I have produced. My friends & family have been my guinea pigs throughout this journey. They all received Granny's tea cups filled with beautiful, soy wax and a lovey scent. The beauty of soy wax is that you can easily clean out the cup/container and use it after the candle burns. I love the idea of repurposing sentimental items. I even poured wax into a sugar bowl for my sister. It wasn't perfect. It had a small chip but it was our great, great grandmother's sugar bowl. Priceless.

So, there you have it. That's how it all started. Once I started, I couldn't stop. I love coming up with new oil & wax mixtures and I am exploring aroma-therapy. I love the natural healing properties of essential oils. Good stuff, indeed!

Please let me know if you'd like to try one of my candles. They are small, medium and large. Perhaps you'll be chosen for some freebies!!

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.

Best, Lisa
